Students of Tunghai University with official student status (excluding those who are full-time employees) who are enrolled in "Freshman English" or "Freshman English: Language and Communication" courses in both the first and second semesters of the 114th academic year.
Students must obtain an in-class grade of 70 or above in both semesters.
The average of the written test score of the midterm examination in the first semester and the written test score of the final examination in the second semester must be 36 points or above.
Recipients of this scholarship in previous years are not eligible for repeat awards.
Selection Criteria and Number of Awards:
Ranking Basis: Ranking is based on the "improvement score" calculated by comparing the written test score of the midterm examination in the first semester and the final examination in the second semester.
Handling Ties: In the event of identical "improvement scores," ranking shall be determined by the higher average of the two aforementioned written test scores.
Score Exclusion: Scores from make-up examinations taken outside the official scheduled time shall not be included in the ranking.
Number of Awards: The top 100 eligible students who meet the aforementioned criteria may receive a maximum scholarship amount of NT$10,000 each. (The number of recipients and the amount of each award may be adjusted according to the donation status of the academic year).
Application Procedures:
) The list of award recipients will be announced on the English Language Center website by July 30, 2026 (Thursday), and individual notifications will be sent to the award recipients' tMail inboxes.
) Award recipients must submit the signed hard copy of the award receipt (see Attachment), fill out the online form (https://form2.thu.edu.tw/5022466), and upload the following documents by September 15, 2026 (Tuesday):
A photocopy of the cover page of the recipient’s bankbook (including account information).
A learning experience reflection for public viewing:
) Submitted either in written form (in Chinese or English, at least 200 words) or as a video (within two minutes).
) The content may describe your English-learning journey over the past year, including the learning process, online English-learning resources you have used, English-related activities you have participated in, or the development of your personal learning strategies.
) If the learning experience reflection submitted by the applicant is found to involve falsification, plagiarism, infringement of intellectual property rights, or repeated receipt of the same award, the English Language Center shall recover the scholarship and handle the case in accordance with university regulations.
The scholarship is expected to be transferred to the designated account by the end of October 2026.
