Full-time Assistant Professor (or above) Position Announcement

The English Language Center, Tunghai University

 

The English Language Center at Tunghai University invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor (or above). The appointment will take effect on August 1, 2026.

 

【Qualifications】

  1. A Ph.D. in Teaching English as a Foreign Language, Curriculum and Instruction, Applied Linguistics, or a related field;
  2. Experience in publishing academic journal papers and conducting research projects;
  3. Ability to use English as the medium of instruction;
  4. Experience in curriculum development, educational technology, self-access learning resources, and English proficiency assessment for students, faculty, and staff;
  5. Commitment to supporting the University’s bilingual education and internationalization initiatives; and
  6. Dedication, teamwork, and effective communication skills to achieve excellence in collaboration.

 

【Duties】

  1. Teach at least 9 hours (Research-track) or 12 hours (Teaching-track) per week;
  2. Teach Freshman English, Sophomore English, and elective English courses (for non-English majors);
  3. Complete assigned administrative duties and extracurricular activities;
  4. Coordinate within and across committees;
  5. Assist the Center with project proposals and management, and, if nominated, serve on college and university committees.

 

【Salary and Benefits】

  1. Starting salary: NT$ 83,720/month (before tax);
  2. Health Insurance: Coverage under Taiwan’s National Health Insurance plan for the employee and all dependents;
  3. Labor insurance: Enrollment in Taiwan’s Labor Insurance Plan;
  4. Paid vacation: Approximately 12 weeks per year (Winter/Summer);
  5. Annual Bonus: Equivalent of 1.5 months’ salary after a full year of service;
  6. Additional compensation: Overtime pay and project stipend opportunities; and
  7. Promotion: Faculty members are eligible to apply for promotion in accordance with university regulations (Teaching-based or Research-based).

  3. CV Form (use the attached DOC document);
  4. Photocopies of Ph.D. diploma and transcript (Foreign diplomas need to be certified);
  5. A sample course syllabus for one of the courses you can offer;
  6. A 3 to 5-minute self-introductory video addressing the following:

6.1 your knowledge and/or experiences of teaching English in higher education institutes in Taiwan, such as students' learning styles, motivation, and performance; and

6.2 how well your background and teaching experience would fit in and contribute to the English Language Center.

  1. Ph.D. dissertation;
  2. Two recent reference letters;
  3. A photocopy of the Certificate issued by R.O.C. Ministry of Education (M.O.E) if available.
